Dale enjoyed the outdoors, walking, climbing, nature conservation. He loved the local woods and countryside around our home in Mostyn, North Wales. We would like to thank everybody for their donations and involvement in fundraising events which have taken place. We continue to support the things Dale was passionate about and are hoping to realise Dales dream of a climbing wall in Mostyn.
Here's a list of the money raised so far, donations made and the fundraising events that have taken place.
It was an obvious choice to support the Woodland Trust as Dale had done some voluntary work for them and The Dale Way walk goes through a wood managed by them.
In total £1919.97 has been donated to the Woodland Trust and some of this money was used to pay for the sculptured bench on The Dale Way.
In addition to the above figure the following people have donated directly to Dales Woodland Trust Fund:-

- Sponsored walk The Dale Way 2004
£193 -Thanks to Chris, Charlotte, and Connor Roberts and Philip Lloyd Roberts.
£224 Thanks to New Balance Warrington in sponsoring Gaynor Warding.
- Donations from everywhere
We have received donations from strangers who were touched by Dales life and so many donations sent anonymously. We would like to thank everyone, it really is so very kind and we feel quite overwhelmed by this kindness and the lovely words of support.
- Martins Dublin Marathon Oct 2004
Thanks to Martin Warding for getting so many blisters and for all the money raised.
- Abseil - Mostyn Youth Club
This event was to raise funds for a tree and a bench in the grounds of the Youth Club.
Unfortunately we have been informed that the sponsorship raised was passed from Sally Powell (Youth Leader) to David Alexander (Clocktower) so we are trying to trace its whereabouts. Will keep you updated.
If anyone who took part has any photos we would love to add them to the website.
Thanks to all who dared to take part and for the sponsorship raised.
Thanks to Steve, Becky & Ellie Jamieson for this superb idea.
Those of you who knew Dale will know of his passion of Birds of Prey. His Uncle Steven, Auntie Becky and Cousin Ellie have sponsored an Eagle Owl called Aled. See photos. We all spent a wonderful day there just a few weeks ago and are thrilled by this lovely gesture, and we expect to be regular visitors throughout the year - they have a place to get a coffee in the winter months - and spectacular views. If you are ever in Llandudno its worth a visit.
Dale designed a climbing wall for a community project in 2002. The project was changed so Dale never got to see his dream come true. We still have his original sketches and plans so we would love to see his ideas become reality - a fitting memory for the friends he left behind. We are continually being asked what is happening with this plan, but have avoided this sensitive issue for long enough. So here goes...
One person is holding up the start of this project. We need a signature on a cheque which was promised to the Climbing Wall in January 2004. We can't start this ambitious project without this substantial sum, as we are hoping to apply for matched funding. |
